Government Resources Online
There are many excellent online
resources to help in your Nursing Home Abuse research. The
U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMMS,
formerly HCFA) has published a comprehensive 45-page Guide to Choosing
Nursing Homes (Pub. No. HCFA—02174 - B (Aug. 2000)), which may be downloaded
here in pdf format. The booklet explores a number of
issues, such as alternatives to nursing homes, paying for care, and a host of
questions to cover in your evaluation. CMMS also supplies a separate
Nursing Home Checklist to help one ask all the right
questions.
